Roger Moore (James Bond) schittert in de rol van meesterdief Simon Templar beter bekend onder zijn schuilnaam 'The Saint'.
Simon Templar of 'The Saint' is een miljonair die zijn leven in dienst stelt om de misdaad te bestrijden. Hij is echter een soort moderne Robin Hood, die steelt van de rijke criminelen en maar dan wel de buit voor zichzelf houdt. Hij is knap, charmant, gesofisticeerd, koel in crisis situaties en 'hot' in bed. Vrouwen aanbidden en mannen benijden hem volop. Templar werkt niet voor de wet, de regering of voor wie dan ook, maar hij staat altijd paraat om deze instanties te helpen als ze er om vragen.
